Roger Allen Roman
August 16, 1966 - July 17, 2003

| Roger Allen Roman, resident of Guerneville, California, died in an automobile accident on July 17, 2003 at 9:38 a.m.
Roger was born in Oakland, California, on August 16, 1966. Roger's family moved to Davis, California, and reside in that area today. Roger's parents met in San Jose, CA. His father was born on Maui, HI. His mother, May, is a native of Oregon and has a step father, Ray Wise. Roger has two sisters, Jill and Robin. His parents divorced when Roger was a teenager and his father moved back to Maui where Roger spent several summers and eventually moved there as an adult in 1987. He worked with his father doing construction jobs and remodeling and then worked on his own, specializing in ceramic tile installation. He moved back to the mainland on May 19, 1999. He worked at Maestro Pedestals as a Wood Craftsman specializing in pedestals for fine art. Roger was an unique and creative person. He enjoyed working on projects that required close attention to detail. He did not like to wear the latest trends or care to hang around with the "popular" guys. He liked being with people that were open-minded and easygoing. He enjoyed drawing and etching, stain glass sculpting, landscaping, car restoration, computer graphic art designing, and rock/fossill collecting. He was one of those guys that just "scribbled" onto a piece of paper and did not even realize what a true, creative talent he possessed. His imagination was baffling and intriguing. He could see art and inspiration in objects that were simple and plain to others. Roger had a kind spirit and open heart to animals. He had three dogs that he loved very much. One dog in particular was Bobbi. Bobbi was a golden retriever that lost a front leg after being hit by a car on Maui. They were soul mates. Bobbi was tragically killed shortly after moving to the mainland. He later loved two other wonderful dogs named Cowgirl and Rascal. He had a compassionate heart when he saw a stray or hurt animal along the road and he would stop and take the animal home and nurture it until he could find the owners or another home. He respected nature and enjoyed the outdoors by camping, mountain biking and hiking. His favorite and most talked or should it be said, bragged, about hike was of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. He was very adventurous and daring. He was not afraid to take a chance for an adrenaline rush. He always managed to come out unscathed. He desired only the simple things in life and worked toward them. He did not want elaborate objects or valuable possessions. He was passive in many ways and also firm on his beliefs and ideas. He was never afraid to speak up and express his ideas or thoughts. He was a romantic and charmer. He would rather have a night of cuddling and intimacy than of sex. He was shy and quiet in the public and was usually the guy that stood against the wall and out of the spotlight at the bar. His friends were mostly the same, with some exceptions. He did not readily share his feelings or the fine details of his life with people until they became close in friendship. He did not have a cluster of friends or desire it. He much more preferred a few friends to keep things in his life simple. Roger will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His mother and step father, May and Ray Wise of Woodland, CA., father, Robert "Buddy" Roman of Maui, HI., sisters Robin White of Esparto, CA., and Jill Lucero of Ukiah, CA., his grandmother Dorothy Emmons of Ukiah, and aunt and uncle, Jozelle and Conrad Cox of Ukiah, and his life companion and friend, Don Halsey of Guerneville and Redding, CA., and countless others. They all know that Roger is smiling down onto them and protecting them from harm. They know Roger is in total bliss in his continuing adventure of life. We love you Roger. Author: Don Halsey |
